Another Resource for Fructose Malabsorption

Say what you will about Facebook but I am glad it is here.   Since being diagnosed with DFI, a whole new world has been open up to me.   Mostly through gluten free pages, but as a DFI person I find many of our issues are the same just a different root cause.    One of the pages I follow recently posted this link in regard to Fructose issues and IBS.    http://shepherdworks.com.au/disease-information/low-fodmap-diet Hope this is helpful to others.   

DFI - A great resource

Since being diagnosed with DFI, I have been researching a lot.   What I have found out is this cannot be put in a box and say avoid x and only eat y.    I know I have to stay away from things with fructose, mainly HFCS which is the biggest offender but I am finding out that certain wheat varieties are safer than others.   Who would have thought.   What I did find was a great on line resource that seems to be consistent with a lot of the research I have been doing. http://www.healthhype.com/nutrition-guide-for-fructose-malabsorption.html

Dinner with Friends - the GF DFI addition

Last night we had two of our favorite people over for dinner.   This was the first time since my diagnosis we have had people other than family over for dinner.   For dinner I made a simple roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots.  As a side I made a roasted cauliflower dish.  Since my DFI is tends to have a more moderate effect, the cauliflower did not cause my symptoms to appear.  The cauliflower dish was inspired by one of my favorite dishes at a local restaurant.  It is roasted cauliflower in an orange sauce with gnocchi.   I had a head of cauliflower and some oranges so I thought why not.    Here is the recipe. Orange Roasted Cauliflower 1 head of cauliflower chopped into bite size pieces The juice and zest of one naval orange approx a tsp of red pepper flakes (I pinch and eyeball) drizzling of olive oil (again this is an eyeball technique) approx 4 TBSP salt and pepper to taste.
